Wilhelm von Humboldt had a variety of different hairstyles during his lifetime. He became famous as a great linguist, diplomat, anthropologist, teacher, politician and philosopher. Nevertheless, the German (Prussian) philosopher, government functionary, diplomat, and founder of the University of Berlin was specially known for his unique fashion sense and his pleasant personality. Before his tragic passing at the age of 68 he was again and again in the spotlight of the press because of his superb haircuts.
